Long Feed Trough
John Harvey Long Troughs are available at 30” wide by 8” deep in the lengths as listed below.
They provide the perfect solution when large groups of Sows are kept together outdoors and are designed for feed to be delivered to troughs mechanically. Made from 2mm Z600 steel pre-galvanised sheet with 22mm galvanised strengthening cross bars which allow for troughs to be stacked when moving and can also be used with our lifting attachment.
The lengths we offer Long Troughs in are as follows:
- 6m
- 7.5m
Long Trough spacing – Gilts 0.75m and Sows 1m.
In order to create a product tailored to your individual needs we provide variations on our standard equipment. These options are detailed below.
Additional Options
Trough Joiners
Long Trough Joiners are used where two or more troughs are in one paddock. They keep the Troughs in line for easy filling and prevent food dropping between the troughs discouraging vermin. These can be added at a later date if required as the holes for joiners are put in as standard.
Drain Holes
Differing drain holes are available in the replaceable trough ends to suit specific site conditions:
- 30mm** is the standard hole
- 45mm hole is recommended for upland stony areas
- Notched corners suit very sandy soil
**Bungs are available for 30mm hole ends in order to enable the troughs to be used for water if necessary, for example, in freezing conditions. If being used to hold water the bolts on the ends will need to be sealed.
Woods
We recommend Long Troughs are mounted on woods to prevent water logging. Woods are 9” x 4” x 1m long and pressure treated to ensure longevity. These are fixed to the Trough with dome head bolts to enable easy cleaning. We supply 2 woods per 6m Trough and 3 per 7.5m Trough.
